It’s our serve!

In Mark 10:45, Jesus said He came to serve, not to be served. So, in following Jesus together, we want to serve others, too. We try to do that in different ways. For example, we have two projects we participate in annually.

Annual Projects:

Operation Backpack – every summer we provide backpacks and school supplies for under-resourced children at Westover ES, where we used to meet. This year we added backpacks for Kennedy HS, too, since we meet there now.

Every fall we assemble shoebox gifts for needy children around the world.

Operation Christmas Child – every fall we put together Christmas presents in shoeboxes that get sent to needy children in various parts of the world through Samaritan’s Purse┬áso that they will have a present at Christmastime.

Other Projects:

Child Sponsorships – our folks sponsor children in third world countries through Compassion International, making sure they get the food, clothing, and education they need.

Kenyan Children’s Home – We provide regular support to an orphanage and school in Western Kenyan.

Montgomery County Family Justice Center – Our folks donated diapers and wipes to help families dealing with domestic violence.

Robinhood Swim Club Rebuild – We helped the pool with their fundraiser to fix their pool after storm damage closed it.

Handicap Access – A group of men built a ramp so that one of our worship leaders could gain access to his house during a battle with leukemia.

Burtonsville Day – We gave out Bibles and balloons as part of the local festival.
